Timely support for principals from trusted peers with first-hand understanding of the challenges and rewards that come with the role.

Principalship requires knowledge and know-how in an almost unprecedented range of disciplines, from pedagogy and data analysis to literacy, procurement and counselling. It is an exciting, unique and challenging role. When principals thrive, teachers, students and school communities also thrive.

Principal Mentoring, part of the Department of Education and Training Principal Health and Wellbeing Strategy, links principals with trained mentors who are highly skilled retired principals and educational professionals. Mentors partner with their mentees to share their expertise and provide support, as sounding boards and trusted advisors.

This is a confidential service.

Up to 12 hours of mentoring time.

Sessions can be delivered face-to-face at a mutually agreed location; virtually (by Skype, phone or similar); or in a combination of these modes.

Through expert guidance, discussion and agreement with your mentor, the Principal Mentoring Program aims to support you in your role as a principal.

The mentoring experience involves shaping your own outcomes with your expert principal mentor.

Fully subsidised for Victorian government school principals.
