The Literacy Master Trainer course will develop the skills, knowledge and disposition you need to facilitate Literacy Local Leaders (formerly Leading Literacy for Networks).
Literacy master trainers will support a system-wide approach to literacy professional learning that builds capacity, improves literacy teaching and learning and results in improved student literacy outcomes.
This course is part of our Literacy Suite.
Literacy master trainers have a deep understanding of effective literacy practice who demonstrate commitment and leadership of literacy improvement in schools.
This can include teachers, school leaders, principals and regional staff, including Education Improvement Leaders, Professional Learning Community Managers, Student Achievement Managers and members of the Differentiated School Support Initiative.
You are expected to engage in and contribute to:
- 5 face-to-face workshop days
- quarterly master trainer forums, both face-to-face and online.
Following nomination and regional endorsement, 2 literacy experts from each network will complete the Literacy Master Trainer course at Bastow. After successful completion, literacy master trainers are expected to deliver 1 intake of Literacy Local Leaders within their local area.
By participating in this course, you will:
- enhance your understanding of best practice literacy skills and pedagogy
- develop and refine your facilitation skills
- explore and develop resources and activities required to deliver Literacy Local Leaders
- build strong connections within your peers to learn, discuss and collaborate about the master trainer role best practice.
Ongoing learning opportunities will be provided to continue to foster your development and confidence as a literacy master trainer.
Acceptance into Literacy Master Trainer is dependent on an nomination/endorsement process.
Prospective master trainers will need to complete an expression of interest via Bastow's application portal Award Force.
To begin the process, click on the 'Expression of interest' button and create an Award Force account using your edumail address.
Your principal/manager will need to approve your nomination in Award Force.
Following this approval, the Senior Education Improvement Leader and Area Executive Director or Executive Director School Improvement will provide regional endorsement.
Following regional endorsement, successful nominees will be invited to register for a 2020 intake.
All expressions of interest must be submitted by Monday 11 November for final regional endorsement.
Please ensure your response has been submitted with enough time to guarantee all levels of approval can be completed within this time frame.
