This series of 3 interactive webinars explores the professional identity of learning specialists and how to identify and define learning cultures.

You will develop strategies you can use as part of your role to influence the learning culture in your school.

Resources and recordings will be made available after each webinar.

The webinars have been developed and delivered by the Department of Education and Training’s Quality Teaching Branch in partnership with Professor Emeritus Helen Timperley and Dr Kaye Twyford from the University of Auckland.

Helen Timperley

Helen Timperley is Professor Emeritus of Education at the University of Auckland. Her extensive research experience has focused on how to promote professional and leadership learning in schools in ways that make a difference to outcomes for those student learners who are currently underserved by the system. Most of her published and consultancy work has focused on school and system change through professional learning, professional conversations with impact and evaluative thinking in educational innovation.


Dr Kaye Twyford

Dr. Kaye Twyford is a lecturer in educational leadership at the University of Auckland. Kaye brings over 20 years of experience in schools to her current work in the tertiary sector. She has also worked as a consultant supporting communities of learning to build collaborative practices within and across groups of schools to address inequity in learner outcomes. Kaye is interested in the leadership of educational change, especially the role of emotion, uncertainty and vulnerability in professional learning.


During each webinar, you will contribute to a moderated discussion and have the opportunity to ask questions and share your experiences.
