Bastow launches its new website

Innovation; News; Online Learning
The new Bastow website was launched this week after extensive research and user testing. Designed to create the best possible user-centred experience with improved navigation and functionality throughout, the site supports and complements our service delivery and reflects the high quality and practice-orientation of our work.
Bastow's new website

The Bastow communications and marketing team worked closely with web experts to devise a new information architecture and website design that has simplified access to Bastow courses, events, research, resources and facilities, as well as giving prominence to our partnerships with educators in rural and regional Victoria. The new visual design is striking, yet clean and unfussy, to provide easy navigation and a clear understanding of what Bastow offers.

One objective that was particularly important to us was to reveal courses for educational leaders at the different stages of their career journey. The new innovative course menu lists all courses, as well as providing a clear view of the courses that correspond to career stages for teachers, principals and early childhood professionals. The targeted pages then provide more detail on upcoming programs for each career stage and audience.

The site also showcases our growing library of case studies and videos so that prospective participants can contextualise our professional leadership development offerings and understand the learning outcomes and impact of each course.

Other significant improvements, such as a new search function for courses, professional practice and events, make it easy to find a specific program, while travel directions to Bastow on every page assist course participants to plan their visit.

Two rounds of user testing – both of the visual designs and of the completed website – validated the approach that we took. From the start, users were positive about their experience using the updated website, and were particularly positive about the revised course information pages.

Our Talking Point blog on the site’s homepage lets us share information about what we – and you – are doing. With stories about upcoming programs and partnerships, research and innovation in the education sector, events and case studies about teachers, principals and early childhood professionals who have attended Bastow courses, Talking Point keeps you up to date on the latest news from and about Bastow.
